M.P. State Co-operative Union Limited Bhopal (Union) is a state level apex co-operative organization registered under M.P. Co-operative Societies Act dated 25-3-1958 and its registration number is 4. Its registered head office is located at E-8/77, Shahpura, Trilanga, Bhopal. The entire state of Madhya Pradesh is covered in the operational area of the Union. M.P. State Co-operative Union Limited ,Bhopal is a representative Institution of Co-operative movement in the state. It has total of 167 different types of co-operative societies of the state as its members, details of which are as follows:-
1- Apex Co-operative Organizations of the State – 18
2- District Central Co-operative Banks of the State – 38
3- District Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Banks – 38
4- District Co-operative Unions – 38
5- Other Co-operative Institutions – 35
All these members constitute an annual general body (AGM) of the M.P. State Co-operative Union Limited Bhopal which is the supreme authority of the Union under the Act. The M.P. State Co-operative Union has an elected Board of Directors whose term is for five years. The Board of Directors is elected by the representatives of the member co-operative institutions of the Union after every five years. They look after all the policy matters of the Union and consists of one Chairman, one Vice Chairman and 17 other directors. As far as day to day functioning of the Union is concerned it has certain categories of executive officers and non-executive staff, who are mainly as under:-

Principals of Co-operative Training Centres.
Manager, Lecturers, Computer Instructors and Instructors.

Organizing various training programmes in cooperative and allied sectors with special emphasis on up gradation of computerized knowledge for developing human resources towards the growth and development of the state. To provide a boost to the image of cooperatives through publicity, publication of literature and policy advocacy. To provide training and consultancy in the areas beyond cooperatives too. We focus on
Converting best practices and experiences into resource materials such as process documents, handbooks, and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and help scale up our work. Analyzing practices, studying impacts, and facilitating debate and critique to make our work more effective. Drawing out broader lessons to facilitate policy dialogue.

The Madhya Pradesh government handed over the entire scheme of cooperative education and training to Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Union Ltd. in 1958 and 1964 respectively. The objective is to impart knowledge to the members for managing activities of the cooperative societies involved in the growth of cooperative movement as well as the office bearers of the cooperative societies/non official and employees.

Conducting higher diploma in Cooperative Management courses of 20 week duration. Organizing one to seven days short duration courses on relevant subjects. Considering the up gradation of education, The Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Union Ltd; has commenced computer knowledge programmes for the personnel working in the various cooperatives as well as private candidates since 2006. In this scheme 5 to 15 days computer knowledge sessions on different subjects like Tally, Office Automation, M.S. Office, and Internet etc. are being conducted. Organizing one year P.G.D.C.A. and D.C.A. Certification programmes recognized by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication (MCNUJC), Bhopal. The eligibility qualification for P.G.D.C.A. courses is graduation and 12th class (10+2) for D.C.A. The well-equipped computer labs are available at all the training centres.

A monthly publication of a Hindi newsletter-‘MADHYA PRADESH SAHKARI SAMACHAR’ which includes achievement of cooperative articles, public welfare schemes of the government and miscellaneous relevant materials. The news letters are also published on special occasions like Independence Day and cooperative week. The prescribed life membership fee is Rs. 1500/- for MADHYA PRADESH SAHKARI SAMACHAR. The prescribed annual fee is Rs. 150/- From time to time folders, pamphlet, posters, banners flexes etc. are printed to provide information to the public regarding the Union.

Literature concerning cooperatives have been published from time to time which includes guidelines on cooperative election, manual on credit and non-credit cooperatives the service rules of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies, important decision of cooperative tribunal and the acts as well rules have been published etc.

The detailed project reports on Integrated Cooperative Development, for the district of Dewas, Hoshangabad, Rewa and Seoni have been prepared by the Union.
